I now know more about magnetos than I thought possible. However, professional overhaul is the only sensible way to go. But many thanks, anyway.

Truly a great Article. Is there any way to get a hold of this guy (the author) or to find out where I could get a Lucas Mag Armature rewound for under a thousand guinneas?

Mate your the greatest this definetly will help me out and a lot rings true. thankyou so much my 52 ajs single 500 runs and idels good but after runing just out of town i end up pushing her back i call her my exersise bike. And i don't like exersise.

Gives more explanation as to why the mag don't work than the original Lucas manual, and without needing a science degree!
